Saint Michael Parish

Marriage Preparation Program

The marriage preparation program at St. Michael's is a vibrant and growing ministry.  The program ministers to engaged couples from within and outside our parish and is committed to building strong marriages by providing a Catholic faith based foundation.  Couples participate in a four week session, listening to presentations on Communication Skills, Finances, Natural Family Planning, Christian Parenting, and Marital Spirituality and sharing their thoughts on some of marriages more demanding questions.

The program is currently seeking those couples who are interested in assisting engaged couples with their life's vocation.

There are many ways to serve in this great ministry!

Prayer Couple:  As a prayer couple, you will be given the name of an engaged couple(s), and we ask that you offer your prayers for them while they are participating in our program.  We also ask that you send a note of encouragement or inspiration to your assigned couple(s) prior to their wedding date.  You are not required to attend any of the sessions, however, please feel welcome to sit in any time.

Presenting Couple:  Prepare and present a class presentation.  Several topics relating to the church's teaching on marriage as well as topics such as family of origin, finances etc. are presented.  Willing to meet one on one with couples if need be to discuss topics at a deeper, more personal depth.  Training is available as well as base foundation for each topic.

The Marriage Prep Program at St. Michael's is looking for couples who are:

  • Practicing Catholic

  • Pro Life

  • Practicing or open to the concept of NFP (Natural Family Planning)

  • Willing to teach the truth of the Catholic Church with courage, faithfulness and conviction.

  • Faithful to the teachings of the church

  • Willingness to meet one on one with engaged couples if need arises.

  • Available to present talk two times/year, once in the spring and once in the fall.
