St. Michael’s Parish Center Rental
Policy
(Kitchen, Cafeteria, Gymnasium)
January 14, 2007
This policy governs the use and rental of the Parish
Center (Kitchen, Cafeteria, Gymnasium) and is the responsibility of the
St. Michael Pastoral Council. Fee schedules for rental, and rules and
regulations for use of these facilities, are covered in separate
documents. Questions regarding the eligibility of an organization or
individual under this policy are to be referred to the Parish Business
Manager. Any questions concerning this policy itself are to be referred to
the current Chair of the Pastoral Council, via the St. Michael Parish
Office, 5045 Nine Mile Rd.
Remus, MI 49340. Telephone 989-967-3520
1. Non-parish for-profit organizations or activities may not rent
facilities in the school or parish center during school hours nor until
2:00 PM when school is not in session to better insure that there will not
be a conflict with parish activities (e.g. funeral lunches, meetings,
activities after Sunday Masses, etc.). For the same reason
non-parish for-profit organizations or activities may not make
reservations more than six months in advance.
2. There will be only one fee schedule which applies
to every individual or organization renting the facilities. Parish members
who feel strongly that their parish support should be enough to entitle
them to the use of parish facilities are encouraged to simply deduct the
fee from their regular parish support. The parish would not suffer any
diminishment in its revenue, the renter would not be giving a greater
amount to the parish than they had planned, and the pastor and parish
staff would be spared determining who is or is not a parishioner. A
deposit is due at the time of reservation. Full rental and insurance fees
must be paid prior to the use of the facilities.
3. Renters must pay an insurance fee when using the facilities. This is
required by the Michigan Catholic Conference, the insurer of all of the
Catholic facilities in the State of Michigan and the parish is not free to
either change or dispense with the fee. The current insurance fee is
available from the Parish Office. Questions regarding the insurance fee
are to be referred to the Parish Business Manager.
4. Parish organizations included in the Parish Directory do not pay a fee
for the use of these facilities. In addition, the Pastoral Council
provides use of the facilities rent-free to groups or individuals
associated with the Parish for specific types of functions. Included are:
Knights of Columbus
Gods
Helping Hands
Funeral Lunches (if the funeral is at St Michael’s)
Open Sports Nights/Days if sponsored by a Parish organization
with one or more adults in charge
Alcoholics Anonymous
Questions concerning this list are to be referred to the current Chair of
the Pastoral Council.
5. Any changes to the rental fee schedule are to be approved by the
Finance Council prior to being implemented.
6. A copy of this policy and the Regulations for the Use of the Parish
Center by Parish Organizations and any revisions are to be given to all
Parish organizations. A copy of the Parish Center Rental Regulations are
to be given to all renters upon accepting their reservation and deposit.
